Project Overview

The University of Cumbria appointed DAY PM to provide project management services to deliver a new Higher Education facility within Barrow. The two-storey new build encompasses Engineering Laboratories, IT and Teaching Space’s and Digital Libraries.

The proposed development is a key element of the Barrow Learning Quarter (BLQ), which is a partnership between the University of Cumbria, Furness College, West Morland and Furness Council, BAE Systems, and local businesses. The new university campus seeks to deliver higher education locally, focusing on the demand for advanced manufacturing businesses in and around Barrow and south-west Cumbria. This is a key regeneration scheme for the town, backed by Town Deal Funding.

DAY PM’s early appointment allowed for us to collaboratively work with the University, British Aerospace, and the Local Planning Authority on a challenging Planning Application. DAY PM were also pivotal in the contractor tender and appointment process.

The project is progressing well on site and is due to complete early 2025.
